Moshi Week 7--The Station and Whoops Thanksgiving

Two days of triumph this week.  I was able to walk to and from the pool (from the parking lot) and the next day was able to walk to the International School to the Christmas Fair, and stand for one hour, and walk back.  And then to walk to the compound gate to see the new road construction.  So I celebrated with a pretty bad picture, but none the less one with a smile.  Maybe my IT Band and Hamstring are getting better!

I thought there had not been much in our lives last week but looking back it was incredibly busy.  So though sadly no pictures of Pizza night on Wednesday, we started with Tuesday.

Marco and Marieke brought us to a most amazing place for sundowners on Tuesday night.  It is called "The Platform" and it is just that.  A real find and so far hardly anyone knows about it.  It is literally located on the platform of the old train station, and for the best views you go down through a deep ditch to get over to the platform where everything can be seen.  Carry those plastic tables and chairs.  They now have a generator so that they can serve sort of cold beer.  Our "waitress" was so afraid to use my camera that she begged not to take our pictures, but we made her.  The camera for the second picture was so crooked and seemed to be facing our toes.  But I could at last straighten it out a little so it isn't too bad a picture.  Certainly we were not sure.  What a fantastic place to go.  Thanks you M&M.
Part of the bar where the people waiting for the train sat.

Obviously the old building where the bookings were done
People headed home from work or whatever one does

There is actually a karate club meets here but the back of the station

Spectacular view of Moshi can be seen
Sunset was beginning and it was amazing

The red sky at the station
We were not finished for the night.  We went to dinner at a new restaurant and hotel called "The Secret Garden"  Fantastic service and food.  Very pleasant place overlooking the airfield.

Two happy couples

We did not realize that this would be our last pizza night.  Seems almost impossible!  But I believe that it is until we return.  Sadly I took no camera .....brain dead I guess.  But Thanksgiving was coming Thursday and there was much to do.  I was so gratified to have Rose to help me.  She is incredibly inefficient and I am incredibly inefficient. So it was really great that she helped out. We had a lovely time with the Duke Project young folks and the Mays' who will sadly be leaving in a week.  They are such an integral part of our project and all ways smiling and happy.  Fabulous folks.
Rose looking at the delicious turkey.  Vegetables cooking everywhere

Such a nice group of folks and fun...

With lots of beer and wine everything is terrific
I'm so tired mommy!
When you have a lot of food,  lot of wine & beer everything is wonderful

Look at that tail feather.  Mr. Chagga King
Charlie Jr.  Every bit the Chagga Rooster
Kenny, unhappy with me and life

The evil crow

Jean's new kitty!

Finally, our devilish road to KCMC, one laden with potholes so big you drive on the sides at peril of falling in the drainage ditches just to be away from them.  It is literally hellish and scary.  But, the government apparently has seen the light and is getting ready to repair it all.  First they pulled all the asphalt up and are now evening out the road and mashing it down.  Soooo exciting. No money to re-tarmac it yet but they hope to in January!
The fateful road!

huge huge machine
So bye bye until next week!
